THE GIVER

In this book, there is a boy named, Jonas, and in his community there are no feelings like hunger or pain. They are all equal. They are also all color-blind. Jonas is turning twelve, and at the age of twelve they are assigned their jobs. He gets the job of receiver of memory. When he trains with the Giver, he learns about what he has to do and the secrets of his community. He learns about the colors of the world. He also learns the happiness and love of his community and all the good things about his life. If people do not live up to their standards, they will be released. Jonas soon finds out what that means; death. To keep from being released, Jonas has to keep the memories of the community. Some might be happy and nice, but some of the memories are hurtful, sad, and filled with pain. Jonas will try hard to do his job and stay alive.

I thought this book was exciting and mysterious. People who enjoy science-fiction and adventure will love THE GIVER.
